Support Veterans with “These Boots Still March” Motorcycle / Walk-A-Thon!

(Chicago, Illinois) GET READY–SET–GO!  DOLL, INC. is making news in the military world with “These Boots Still March” Motorcycle / Walk-A-Thon inaugural event scheduled for kick-off right from San Francisco, California, on April 24, 2017.  The name was chosen to show support of Veterans who are victims of homelessness, who suffer from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and other challenges.  We will cross the finish line at The Smith Residences Veterans Village in Ford Heights, Illinois, on Saturday, May 13, 2017! Proceeds raised will support the redevelopment project at the Veterans Village’s gated community of 96 town homes for Veterans and their families. For more details about registration, volunteering and ways you can support this cause, go to www.thesmithresidences.com/2017-events.

To give an update on the redevelopment progress, three single apartments located in an 8 unit building, the only one of its kind in the Veterans Village has been completed.  Local Veterans who have gone through the application process, required by all Veterans desiring to live in the Veterans Village, are awaiting notice for their move-in date.  When you step inside these apartment units you will be surprised to find that these apartments meet condominium standards. The floors throughout, the furniture and appliances are of top quality!

DOLL, INC., the organization behind the redevelopment project holds the ultimate respect toward Veterans and appreciates the sacrifices they have made to keep our country safe.  They deserve to live in high quality living apartments and town homes.  These low to moderate-income units are rented out at market rate.  Vouchers will subsidize a major portion of their rent. These vouchers will be drawn from agencies such as HUDVASH Vouchers and CHA (Chicago Housing Authority) Vouchers.

DOLL, INC was originally formed to combat homelessness among women Veterans and their families. In 2013, those plans soon changed when Cook County Housing Authority deeded 96 town homes, the former Celina Blake Homes, to DOLL, INC., causing the organization to step back to take another look at their strategic plans.  Now DOLL, INC. provides housing and program services to both men and women Veterans and their families!

Still short on capital in order to move at a faster pace with this multi-million dollar redevelopment project, DOLL, INC. continues to slowly make connections with key partners who have realized this young organization’s goals to help eradicate homelessness amongst Veterans and their families.

DOLL, INC. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that provides assistance to men and women Veterans and is currently providing permanent housing for Veterans and their families.
